Our Story

On the corner of Compton Road, at the gateway to Chapel Ash, stands The Royal Oak – a pub with history, heart, and a whole lot of character. For over a century, the Oak has been part of Wolverhampton life, welcoming generations of locals, travellers, musicians, sports fans, and families through its doors.

Since 2006, the pub has been closely connected with the Fullwood and Cole family. First under the care of Sue and Keith Fullwood, and now run by their daughter Emma and her husband Terry, The Royal Oak has grown into more than just a pub – it’s a true community hub. From the weekly quiz and open mic nights, to charity fundraisers, Relay Day, live music sessions, and big match days, the Oak is a place where people come together to laugh, share, and celebrate.

At the Oak, we’re proud to combine tradition with a modern spirit. Our walls are filled with stories, but our eyes are always on the future – whether it’s building the Jam Shed outdoor venue, supporting local charities like Midland Freewheelers Blood Bikes, or bringing in new events and ideas to keep Chapel Ash buzzing. Friendly faces, great beer, and a warm welcome are what we’re known for. The Royal Oak is your pub, your community, your family – right at the heart of Chapel Ash.
