Celebrating a Century (and then some!)
"The Royal Oak in Chapel Ash is officially turning 120! To celebrate this milestone, we are bringing the community together for The Big 120 Challenge. After the incredible success of last year—where over 200 of you took part—we’re going even bigger this year to raise vital funds for the Midland Freewheelers Blood Bikers."

Who are the Midland Freewheelers?
Heading: Riding for Life: Supporting Our Local Blood Bikers
The Midland Freewheelers are a group of dedicated volunteers who provide an emergency, out-of-hours motorcycle courier service to the NHS—completely free of charge. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, these "Blood Bikers" are a vital link in our healthcare system. Your donations from The Big 120 help them stay on the road to deliver:
-
Emergency Blood & Platelets: Life-saving supplies for hospitals and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
-
Human Breast Milk: Transporting donated milk to the Milk Bank at Birmingham Women’s Hospital for premature babies.
-
Time-Critical Samples: Moving pathology samples and urgent medication across the West Midlands.
Did you know? The Midland Freewheelers receive no government funding. They rely entirely on public donations and volunteers—including some of our very own Royal Oak regulars!
"100% Voluntary. 100% Committed. Every penny we raise together keeps their wheels turning."
